We who believe in freedom give thanks in this MLK Season for the courage to link arms across difference…even in Arizona (where this photo was snapped 4 short years after King’s assasination, when Coretta Scott King went to show solidarity with brother Cesar Chavez who was fasting in Phoenix….listen to this wonderful podcast describing the birth of the phrase Obama admits to stealing from Dolores Huerta and the United Farm Workers Movement:

We can, we must, with grateful hearts and broken hearts, keep claiming and passing on to others the freedom these women and men worked ceaselessly to pass on to us.  Remember…believe.
